I met quite a few people last week at Big Omaha and I’ve already followed up with all of them and have set tentative hang out dates. I love making new friends. But as I track the slowly-subsiding buzz on Twitter I’m realizing that even though I met as many peeps as I could, I still missed out.
Here are five people I'm wishing I'd met (in no particular order):
1) Espree Devora (@EspreeDevora)
I noticed Espree as she asked several good questions during the Q/A sections of the conference...in fact a couple of times she asked questions I'd planned on asking. And as everyone knows the measure of someone's brilliance is the degree to which they think like you. :) Espree owns Zexsports.com, a generational marketing firm with a focus on action sports, and she also write a unique and interesting blog, The Billionaire Girl.
2) Zac Triemert (@luckybucketbrew)
Zac is the founder and brewmaster at Lucky Bucket Brewery and he spoke onstage briefly but I missed his talk (I was outside shaking off conference fatigue). The thing about Zac is that he has his Master's in brewing and distilling from Heriot-Watt in Scotland. I'd have loved to talk with Zac about distilling especially as I'm a ridiculous Scotch whisky fanatic.
3) Matt Helt (@matthewhelt)
Matt is an account director at Secret Penguin, a youth marketing and design agency in Omaha. I already knew Secret Penguin was cool because I had a chance to hang out in their slick office space on Thursday night. But Matt wrote a couple of poignant and insightful blog postings that really hooked me. I've been reading back through his archives, and Matt is great at putting this thoughts together.
4) Charles Hull (@charleshull)
Charles owns Archrival, a design studio that does some freaking incredible design work for big brand (and some small brand) clients. Archrival also owns Nomad, the incredibly hip bar at which the Big Omaha Afterparty was held. I kept intending to make my way over and say hey but I kept getting sidetracked.
5) You!
Who knows what cool thing I could have learned from you? OBVIOUSLY you'd have learned something from me, who doesn't (wink), but I don't know what I missed out on. So if we're ever in the same space again, look me up.

I'm Humbled
Thank you so much for your kind words, Chris! Sometimes I wonder why I put so much time and effort into my posts thinking that no one reads them. But knowing that someone is out there appreciating what I have to say makes it totally worth it.
Best of luck!
Matt Helt
